Hello World!

Hello World! Welcome to Techie Teacher Woman. This is my inaugural post and my first foray into the blogosphere. I'm a technophile, a teacher, a mom, a wife, a cat lover, dog owner, and future hobbyist. One day in the not too distant future, I plan to have time to have a hobby or do some crafts. It could happen.

Say hello to my little family: daughter, grandpa, self, and husband. We wear the masks to protect our identities and we changed our names to protect the innocent.  Or the guilty (don't judge me, man, you don't know my life 🙂).

I call us THE INCREDULOUS.  Maybe one day they'll make a movie about us and then the sequel could be called WE'RE INCREDULOUS 2.

There's lot's to say, more to do, and never enough time to say or do everything I'd like to. One of the things I'd love to have time to do is read other folks' blogs. Here's an example of a blog I'm going to read one day: https://www.edtechteam.com/blog/

I went to an Edtechteam Summit for teachers last summer and learned more useful stuff about using technology meaningfully in my classroom in two days than I had learned in the previous two decades. The Summit inspired me to try some new ideas with my little students and got me excited about teaching again for the first time in a looooooooong time.  And WOW! I've been getting some great results from my chickadees!

Technology in the classroom has the potential to be so much more than the opiate of the classes! Used with proper care and feeding, it can be a tool to elicit great performances from the very youngest to the very oldest learners.  It engages interest and sparks creative responses in a way that no other medium can.

Come back soon. There's always more to explore.
